About Marcus Goodman

Marcus Goodman is my pen name. Mark Fomenko is my real name.

I began writing under a pen name years ago and eventually accumulated enough content that changing course seemed more complicated than continuing. These days I am gradually transitioning back to using my real name, but much of my published work still appears under Marcus Goodman.

The short version is simple: Marcus Goodman and Mark Fomenko are the same person.

I write nonfiction, satire, fiction, and the occasional piece that refuses to fit neatly into any category.

My interests are wide-ranging, but they tend to circle around a common set of questions:

How do people make decisions?

How do people adapt to change?

Why do individuals, organizations, and entire societies sometimes behave in ways that seem irrational?

And how can we do better?

Writing About Aging, Health, And Independence

A significant part of my current work focuses on aging, longevity, caregiving, and maintaining independence.

Those interests are not purely academic.

I cared for my parents until they died peacefully at home. The experience was rewarding, exhausting, educational, frustrating, and occasionally absurd. Like many family caregivers, I learned a great deal by making mistakes and solving problems as they appeared.

That experience led me to create AgingInPlaceResource.com, a project dedicated to helping older adults and their families make informed decisions before a crisis forces them to improvise.

I have also written about longevity, fasting, metabolic health, and practical strategies for maintaining physical and cognitive function as we grow older in a book titled Longevity Secrets for Men, Women, Even Them Non-Binaries! The title is playful, the book is serious.

Aging is one of the most important challenges facing individuals, families, and societies. It deserves more attention than it receives.

Satire And Genuine Fake News

Not everything I write is serious.

MarcusGoodman.com is also home to Genuine Fake News, a collection of satirical articles examining politics, media, bureaucracy, culture, technology, and modern life.

Satire has always fascinated me because it allows ideas to be explored from unusual angles.

Sometimes exaggeration reveals truths that straightforward reporting misses.

Sometimes reality does most of the work and satire simply takes notes.

Readers should assume that genuine fake news articles may include fictional experts, committees, or regulations, and entirely real events that sound fictional.

Other Projects

My interests extend into children's literature, philosophy, spirituality, and fiction.

I am the creator of Gentle Night Friends™, a children's series focused on social-emotional learning and character development.

I also maintain OneHolySource.org, a site devoted to reflection, meaning, creativity, and the shared human search for understanding.

Lately I have also been distracted by plans for a hard science fiction project that keeps demanding attention when I should probably be working on something else.

Why This Website Exists

This site exists because writing is how I explore ideas.

Some ideas become books.

Some become websites.

Some become satire.

Some become stories.

A few probably should have remained notes in a drawer.

The goal is not to build a personal brand, cultivate an online persona, or become an influencer.

The goal is to create useful, thoughtful, entertaining work and make it available to readers who may find value in it.
