The Gentle Night Friends Stories:
Gentle Bedtime Stories For Children

The Gentle Night Friends stories are gentle bedtime stories about feelings, friendship, and the quiet lessons hidden inside ordinary moments.

The stories follow Walter, Oscar, Jimmy Joe, Baxter, Professor Pondo, and the other animals of Woodmere Estate and Rescue Farm. Together, they experience uncertainty, kindness, fear, embarrassment, courage, patience, forgiveness, and understanding.

The lessons are not presented as instructions. They emerge naturally through the characters’ experiences, conversations, mistakes, and discoveries.

Each story is written to create a peaceful space where children can recognize emotions in themselves and others while settling down for the night.

More Stories Are Coming

The world of the Gentle Night Friends continues to grow.

Future stories will introduce more of the animals who live at Woodmere Estate and Rescue Farm, including Anthony Honkins, an injured goose learning to live after losing a wing, and other animals who arrive needing safety, patience, and time to adjust.

The stories will explore persistence, friendship, change, mistakes, new beginnings, and the many ways we learn to live peacefully with ourselves and others.

Free Stories, PDFs, and Printed Bedtime Books

Every Gentle Night Friends story is available here as a web page and as a free PDF. The PDFs allow parents, grandparents, caregivers, therapists, and teachers to review the stories and choose those that may be helpful for a particular child. They can also be downloaded and printed for reading away from a screen.

Because screen use close to bedtime can interfere with a child's bedtime routine and sleep, the stories are not intended to be read from a phone, tablet, or computer while a child is settling down for the night.

Printed paperback editions will be available for bedtime reading. Hardcover collections may also be published as the series grows.

Providing both formats keeps the stories freely accessible while preserving the quiet, screen-free experience of sharing a physical book at bedtime.
